Set in London, with echoes of the case of General Pinochet, this novel centres around the life of Oscar who, at the age of 30, leaves his home in Costa Negra in S America to seek a new life in the UK. However, he has not fully taken into account the determination of his formidable mother who descends upon London intent on airlifting him back home. Her arrival brings Oscar face to face with the facts he has tried to ignore - the basis for the family fortune and his mother's part in the Costa Negra dictatorship. In a dramatic finale he confronts his mother and, in turn, her past.
